Nationalisation of Mines is a Freedom Charter principle.

THE FREEDOM CHARTER AND NATIONALISATION OF MINES: response to the Free Market Foundation.

Floyd Shivambu

The ANC Youth League’s perspective officially released in 2010 towards the historic 1st National General Council of the ANC Youth League to substantiate the case for Nationalisation of Mines dealt substantially with the question of the Freedom Charter and Nationalisation of Mines. The perspective dedicated a chapter on this question, because the ANC Youth League foresaw the possibility of right-wing, unseasoned, and opportunistic elements misinterpreting the true meaning of the Freedom Charter when it says, “the mineral wealth beneath the soil, the banks and monopoly industry shall be transferred to the ownership of the people as a whole; all other industry and trade shall be controlled to assist the well-being of the people[1]”.

KGALEMA Motlanthe for ANC President!!

Kgalema Motlantheis an embodiment of organisational democracy and renewal

Floyd Shivambu

Most news reports and analyses over the past week reached the same conclusion that the recent outcomes of the ANC Provincial General Councils, most of which misrepresented the outcomes of Branch General Meetings is a result of President Kgalema Motlanthe not campaigning for the Presidency or any leadership position in the African National Congress.

President Julius Malema and Deputy President Ronald Lamola should rise above the differences.

ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS NEED TO FOCUS ON THE POLITICAL OPPONENTS, NOT ON OUR INTERNAL DIFFERECES.

Floyd Shivambu

I have over the past week read with incredulity the statements of fellow Economic Freedom Fighters in the formal structures of the ANC Youth League National Executive Committee and now the views of President Julius Malema on the approach of Deputy President Ronald Lamola. I do so because as economic freedom fighters, we are engaged in the same war, and because of the complexity of the war and the dynamism that came to define the terrain of struggle, we had to fight on different battlegrounds and fight different battles whilst the intention is to win the war for economic freedom in our lifetime.

Nkandla is not rural development, it is Zuma family's development.

THE DEVELOPMENTS IN NKANDLA ARE NOT RURAL DEVELOPMENT, BUT DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRIVATE RESIDENCE OF MR. ZUMA AT THE EXPENSE OF THE STATE AND AT THE EXPENSE OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT.

Floyd Shivambu

Reccurently, the defenders of Mr. Jacob Zuma have failed to justify the more than R240 million expended on the development of the private residence of Mr. Jacob Zuma in Nxamalala village, in Nkandla, and like drowning men and women clung on straws of portraying the development of his private residence as rural development. As part of this drowning band, the South African Communist Party in KwaZulu Natal, which is under the constant and permanent political and ideological puppetry of SACP Head Office released a public statement which made the most hilarious of claims, observations and proposals on the developments of the private residence of Mr. Zuma in Nkandla.

Zuma is misleading the ANC and South Africa on the land question.

EROSION OF ORGANISATIONAL DEMOCRACY IN THE ANC WILL LEAD TO ITS DEMISE: Proposal by President Zuma on land reform are hogwash and not in line with ANC policy.

Floyd Shivambu

On Tuesday, the 23rd of October 2012, a significant number of news reports pointed to a “new” land reform proposal posited by President Jacob Zuma during his address to the African Farmers Association of South Africa Congress. No one knows where these proposal come from but “It proposes that each district establishes a district land reform committee where all stakeholders are involved to be responsible for identifying 20% of the commercial agricultural land in the district and giving commercial farmers the option of assisting its transfer to black farmers". The President is reported to have further said that “In this way, land can be found without distorting markets”.

Release the tapes Mr. Zuma

RELEASE THE TAPES MR. PRESIDENT:

In light of the refusal of the Lawyers of President Jacob Zuma refusing to release the tapes that led to the charges of corruption, fraud, money laundering and racketeering against him dropped, I decided to re-publish the perspective I wrote on why the private citizen Jacob Zuma should be held accountable for his actions.

Ziminspiration plausible and more can be done.

ZIMBABWE IS INDEED AN INSPIRATION TO THE AFRICAN CONTINENT.

Floyd Shivambu

On all occasions and instances when we visited the Republic of Zimbabwe and whenever we discuss Zimbabwe, we express the fair, honest, truthful and well thought observation that the ZANU-PF led Zimbabwe is an inspiration to the African Continent and how liberation movements should conduct themselves under difficult conditions and circumstances. Zimbabwe, more than any other post colonial territory in the African continent and world, has shown great level and deeper sense of resilience than any other post colonial territory in the post-modern world.

Mangaung should not repeat Polokwane mistakes.

THE ANC CAN MAKE MISTAKES AND IT HAS ALREADY MADE A HUGE BLUNDER IN JACOB ZUMA.

Floyd Shivambu

More often than not, and recurrently during elections campaigns, we as activists of the ANC always re-assure the masses of our people that the ANC does not make mistakes, and it is instead individuals who make mistakes. This we often say when our vocabulary and thinking capacity falls short of providing convincing and adequate reasons on why and how the ANC has failed to meet its promises and aspirations of bettering people's lives in the face of conspicuous consumption and ostentatious values amongst its most senior of leaders.

STATEMENT ON POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS.

MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE RECENT POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS, MARIKANA AND THE WAY FORWARD.

18 September 2012

We have called all of you here as members of the media from across South Africa and the world to speak to all South Africans about the recent political developments, the Mining revolution and the struggles that the people of South Africa are facing 18 years after the democratic breakthrough that transferred only political power from the white racist, murderous regime known the world over as amongst the greatest crimes against humanity, apartheid.

Marxist Jargon abused.

MARXIST AND LEFT JARGON HIJACKED TO JUSTIFY TRIBAL POLITICS BY SACP AND COSATU KWAZULU NATAL.

Floyd Shivambu

On the 2nd of September 2012, the South African Communist Party and Congress of South African Trade Unions Provincial leadership collectives in the province of KwaZulu Natal issued a joint statement after a bi-lateral meeting they held on the same day. There is no patent clarity on the statement of the substantial ideological and political issues these formations of the working class and workers could have discussed in the meeting, but the statement suggests there were lots of conjectural issues and complaints discussed in the meeting.

The turkey that cannot vote for Christmas.

Cyril Ramaphosa – The turkey that cannot vote for Christmas.
Floyd Shivambu

Before he delivered his final verdict as Chairperson of the African National Congress National Disciplinary Committee, I Nyiko Floyd Shivambu published a brutally frank article on various newspapers and new media platforms about Cyril Ramaphosa. The decision to do so was informed by my strong conviction that truth must be told, and had to be told before the judgment because some narrow minded individuals were going to think and believe that am doing so because of my bitterness if i had published the article post verdict.

Mandela Never Sold Out!

MANDELA DID NOT SELL OUT—RESPONSE TO THE YOUNGSTER

Floyd Shivambu

On the 17th of July 2012, an author who identified himself/herself as a Youngster penned a letter to former President Nelson Mandela, not to wish him the 94th Birthday which falls on the 18th of July, but to charge that President Mandela is a sell-out. The writer of the letter premises this notion on a fallacy spread that President Mandela re-interpreted or distorted the Freedom Charter for immediate political convenience and gratification during the transition from apartheid to an elected inclusive government.

RESPONSE TO GWEDE MANTASHE

RESPONSE TO GWEDE MANTASHE

Julius Malema

20 July 2012

The Secretary General of the ANC Gwede Mantashe is quoted on Friday, 20 July 2012 Sowetan as having said that what Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela is doing is dangerous for the organisation. He said “She has taken a decision to go against the ANC national executive committee's (position) on Julius. She has decided to oppose the decision”. This he said in reference to the fact that Mama Winnie Mandela and her family partook on charitable activities in honour of President Nelson Mandela’s 94th Birthday alongside the leadership of the ANC Youth League, which the faction that Gwede Mantashe belongs to has suspended/expelled from the ANC.

Second Transition?

THE ANC NEEDS TO INTENSIFY THE ORIGINAL, NOT SECOND TRANSITION:

JUNE 2012

1.      Perhaps depth should be provided to the ongoing discussions on the character and nature of what the ANC discussion document says is the second transition, a perspective document which is meant to be the Strategy & Tactics of the ANC. In trying to summarise what constitutes the organisational, political and ideological tasks of the progressive forces of change in South Africa 18 years since democratic breakthrough, the ANC released a draft document, which dismally failed to do so. Here we deal with this question in great detail and context in order to avoid misinterpretations of what is to be done.

Wage Subsidy or Not?

SHOULD EMPLOYMENT OF YOUTH BE WAGE-SUBSIDIZED?

FLOYD SHIVAMBU

The recently released Labour Force Survey by Statistics South Africa (Stats-SA) illustrates that the unemployment crisis in South Africa is deepening, with no foreseeable hope to address this crisis with sustainable mechanisms and interventions. This crisis will never be addressed as long as government leaders continue to turn a blind eye on what workers and the youth say should be alternate sustainable solution to the crisis of unemployment and poverty in South Africa.

Chairman Ramaphosa

CYRIL RAMAPHOSA

Floyd Shivambu

Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa has been modelled in the media as the great Constitution man for being the man who negotiated South Africa’s constitutional transition from apartheid to a constitutional democracy. What is less said about his involvement is that he was convened by then ANC National Executive Committee member and Chair of the Constitutional review committee Thabo Mbeki who together with President Oliver Tambo had played an important role in the talks before talks in the mid to late 1980s.

Equality before Law is fundamental in any democracy.

Have your day in court, President Zuma

FLOYD SHIVAMBU

In December the ANC will have its 53rd national conference in Mangaung. Almost all the media are speculating about what the real issues of focus will be -- and those relating to leadership elections seem to be elevated above all other issues. There is, however, an elephant in the room.
